Why do you do this work?

I do this work because there is power and dignity in self-determination. In order to control one's own destiny, I believe every individual deserves meaningful access to knowledge, tools, and the marketplace in order to propel them towards their goals individually and as a collective.

My Story

Lenora earned her J.D. from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. Following law school her career journey equipped her with experiences that inform her people centered, research driven, and data informed approach to the work. She served as an Investigator with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights (MDHR) where she worked daily to enforce the Minnesota Human Rights Act.  She routinely drafted charges of discrimination and investigated cases involving discrimination allegations in the areas of employment, housing, education, public services, and several other jurisdictions. Lenora made document requests and reviewed data typically included in affirmative action plans to ensure compliance with the Minnesota Human Rights Act. In addition to performing investigations and issuing written memorandums, Lenora created guides and conducted training webinars tailored to various audiences, performed onsite training for other state agencies, and engaged with people from all different sectors throughout Minnesota and the nation. She is most proud of the investigations that  resulted in settlements, changed policies, and other positive outcomes for citizens of Minnesota.

During the height of the pandemic Lenora worked with the Small Business Administration reviewing applications and providing technical assistance for small businesses seeking economic relief. In addition to experience working with MDHR, Lenora has worked in a variety of legal settings since 2005 serving clients with needs ranging from immigration law to construction litigation.  She is detail oriented and possesses great drive and dedication.

In her spare time, Lenora enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and reading a good book.
